Photography has always been more than just a way for me to document the world around me. The more I think about why I feel the need to take so many photographs, the more I realize how much of it is tied to time, memory, and my own anxiety about both. This is an attempt to understand why I keep reaching for a camera in the first place.

A week in the Canadian Rockies left me with nearly 3,000 photographs, a finished photobook, and a new appreciation for everything a photograph can—and can't—preserve. Looking back, I realized that some of the most meaningful parts of the trip were never captured in the frame at all.

I bought the Leica Q2 hoping to reconnect with photography. A few months later, it has become the camera that makes me want to create for myself again.
